The long and winding road for a COVID-19 presumption in Illinois appears to have led to a compromise measure that worker advocates and business groups say they can live with, despite its complexity and layers of protection for employers.
The challenge will be getting employers to not only understand the law, “but also working up the case to take advantage of those protections,” said attorney Shuaib Ahmed, president of ASA Law Group, an employer defense firm.
