Communicating with an injured worker in a supportive manner soon after the injury occurs is a key to successful return to work — especially if the worker is older, according to a prominent workers’ compensation researcher.
Offering work accommodation to an employee who is not back to full function is another important return-to-work strategy for older workers in particular, said Dr. Glenn Pransky, founder of the Center for Disability Research within the now-defunct Liberty Mutual Research Institute for Safety.
