OAKLAND, Calif. – The Commission on Health and Safety and Workers’ Compensation on Thursday endorsed a proposal to mandate electronic submission of medical records during the independent medical-review process, a move meant to address concerns about delayed treatment reviews.
The commission voted at its Thursday meeting to ask the Department of Industrial Relations to devote staff time to the issue with an aim toward putting out regulations. Rupali Das, the Division of Workers' Compensation's medical director, suggested the change.
