DWC Approves Carve-Out Covering 20,000 Workers

The Division of Workers’ Compensation approved a carve-out agreement between grocers Albertsons and Vons and seven Southern California United Food and Commercial Workers local unions.The division said the agreement it approved on Oct. 23 covers about 20,000 workers, which represents a 55% increase in the number of employees subject to alternative dispute-resolution programs in California.The agreement between the grocers and UFCW Locals 135, 324, 770, 1167, 1428, 1442 and 8GS, will remain in effect until March 2, 2014, and shall continue on a year-to-year basis from that date unless term...
