More than 50,000 drivers for companies such as Uber and Lyft have signed up in support of a ballot initiative that would repeal California's new employment status test, according to the campaign backing the Protect App-Based Drivers & Services Act. The backing organization, Protect App-Based Drivers & Services, also said more than 1,000 drivers have requested petitions to collect voter signatures to qualify the ballot measure for November.
