Q3 Net Income Down at W. R. Berkley Corp.

W. R. Berkley Corp. on Monday reported a third-quarter net income of $153 million, down 18.6% from $188 million in the third quarter of 2014. For the first nine months of the year, net income was $394 million, a 36.5% decrease from $538 million in the same period last year. Gross premiums written were $1.82 billion in the third quarter; a 2.2% increase from $1.78 billion in the third quarter of 2014.
