A plan to overhaul pharmacy benefits management for the federal workers' compensation program, two years in the making, will have to start anew after Optum prevailed in its protest of the federal agency awarding the $600 million job to Coventry Health Care.
The Government Accountability Office announced last week that it had agreed with Optum's protest of the contract, noting that the Office of Workers' Compensation Programs misread its own request for proposals and misinterpreted what the bidders offered.
