Fire and explosion hazards led to proposed penalties of $50,000 against an Alabama plastics manufacturer, the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration said.
OSHA said it inspected Amtech Southeast in Elmore, Alabama on Jan. 7 and issued the company two repeated and one serious safety citation.
Inspectors found the company was improperly storing oxygen and acetylene cylinders together, as well as failing to properly label the containers that acetone was stored in with the chemical name and hazard warnings.
