The South Carolina Workers’ Compensation Commission has approved a maximum weekly workers’ compensation benefit rate of $838.21 effective Jan. 1, a 3.9% increase over the current-year rate.
Under state law, the maximum compensation rate is set each year at 100% of the statewide average weekly wage. The commission said the Department of Employment and Workforce certified South Carolina’s average weekly wage from July 1, 2016, to June 30, 2016, as $838.21. That is up from $806.92 in the current year.
