The Virginia Workers’ Compensation Commission officially began full operations Wednesday in its new headquarters, the former Media General building at 333 E. Franklin St. in downtown Richmond.
The commission is leasing four of the building’s five floors — a total of 104,000 square-feet — from Hourigan Development, which bought the building in June from the defunct communications company.
Nearly 250 commission employees moved downtown from the agency’s former headquarters at 1000 DMV Drive and from other leased spaces.
