A California state Senate committee on Monday approved legislation that would cut in half the time employers have to accept liability for most workers’ compensation claims.
The Senate Labor, Public Employment and Retirement Committee voted 4-1 to send Senate Bill 335 to the Appropriations Committee despite opposition from dozens of business and insurer groups that say the bill would prevent employers from fully investigating claims before deciding whether to accept them.
