The California Occupational Safety and Health Standards Board voted against adopting a proposed standard that would have required adult film actors and actresses to wear condoms and protective eyewear when shooting porn movies in the state.
The adult film industry opposed the tougher standard, which had been in the works for six years and pushed by the Aids Healthcare Foundation, a Los Angeles-based nonprofit organization.
