Starting Monday, Miami's largest hospital will once again stop providing elective surgeries, a move that could mean further delays for injured workers who need operations.
The CEO of Jackson Health System told the South Florida Business Journal that the surge in COVID-19 infections threatens to overwhelm all hospitals in the area, and most elective surgeries have been put on hold until further notice. The state has seen a record number of new cases in the last week —more than 6,500 per new infections per day.
