The Minnesota Supreme Court ruled that a deputy sheriff’s entitlement to benefits for his post-traumatic stress disorder ended once his psychiatrist found he no longer met the criteria for the diagnosis.
“Holding otherwise would allow an employee's diagnosis of PTSD to remain effectively perpetual,” the court said. As such, “the diagnostic label is important — indeed, dispositive — in determining whether an employee is eligible for workers' compensation benefits.”
