A marketer for a Penitas, Texas, pharmacy who also served as a Pharr city commissioner was convicted Wednesday for his role in a scheme to defraud Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, the U.S. Attorney’s Office of the Southern District of Texas announced.
Part of 47-year-old Oscar Elizondo’s job at Penitas Family Pharmacy was to entice employees insured under a Blue Cross health plan to turn over their insurance information in order to receive subscriptions for expensive scar creams and prescription pain patches, prosecutors said.
