Industrial Commission Chair Named New State Budget Director

Drew Heath, chairman of North Carolina's Industrial Commission, will take over as the state's budget director from next month.

The appointment follows the announced resignation of current Budget Director Lee Roberts, who said he is returning to work in the private sector. 

Roberts has been budget director since 2014 and his departure was not telegraphed prior to the announcement, according to the Robesonian news site.

Heath, as industrial commission chairman, has worked to implement McCrory's key directives, to combat employee misclassification abuse and to improve the state's employer compliance program, the Robesonian report said.
