The Connecticut Workers’ Compensation Commission updated its Professional Guide for Attorneys, Physicians and Other Health Care Practitioners Guidelines for Cooperation.
The commission said the update focuses on the role of physician assistants.
The guide allows physician assistants to conduct work comp exams under the direction of a physician at 70% of the fee schedule rate. Physician assistants are not allowed to see patients on more than two consecutive visits and can’t assign the permanency rating at the final visit.
The changes are retroactive to April 1.
