Father-Son Attorney Team Opens Law Office

Attorney Danny R. Smith and his son, R. Patrick Smith, have opened a law firm at the former site of the Piedmont Steakhouse in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

Known as Smith Legal Group PC, the firm’s practice areas are workers’ compensation, Social Security disability, personal injury and complex litigation. The office is at 276 Magnolia St.

Danny Smith has practiced law in Spartanburg for more than 40 years. He left his former firm, Harrison, White, Smith & Coggins, now known as Harrison White PC, following a reorganization, the Herald-Journal reported.

Patrick Smith received his law degree from the University of South Carolina in Columbia.

Danny Smith recalled the Piedmont Steakhouse as a restaurant frequented by many lawyers and judges. Famous patrons reportedly included President Harry Truman and Elvis Presley. The restaurant closed in February 1997 after 87 years in business.
