The Alaska Workers’ Compensation Board adopted changes it proposed in April to clarify the time frame in which a doctor must agree to perform an independent medical evaluation.
New rules that have an effective date of July 27 require doctors selected to perform independent evaluations to submit a completed application, proof of license and a certification of insurance “not later than 60 days after” the date of the board’s letter asking the doctor to apply. The new rules eliminate previous language requiring doctors to submit the materials “within 60 days.”
