The state House of Representatives has unanimously passed a bill to clarify when notices of workers' compensation policy cancellation are effective.
The policies will now be considered canceled three days after the insurer sends notice by registered or certified mail, as long as the insurer has also notified the insured "and any other person designated in the policy to receive notice" by both first-class mail and electronic means.
Senate Bill 489 passed the House 113-0 on Tuesday. It passed the Senate 48-1 in April.
