Robert "Bob" J. Newhouse Jr., an insurance industry veteran who spent much of his career with Marsh & McLennan Cos., died on Aug. 26. Newhouse began his career in the insurance industry in 1954. He was a senior executive for Guy Carpenter & Co. and retired as vice chairman of the parent company, Marsh & McLennan Cos. He was one of the architects of the Bermuda insurance industry and was one of the founders and early directors of Ace Ltd., which is now Chubb.
