The owner of a janitorial company in Southern California was ordered to pay $2.4 million in restitution for committing workers’ compensation and tax fraud.
The San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office announced that Almirante Perez owned and operated the Southern Pacific Janitorial Group. Over a period of years, he underreported his payroll and failed to fully insure his workforce, prosecutors said.
He was convicted of felony work comp fraud and sentenced to two years of probation in May 2021.
