Insurers Directed to Be More 'Flexible' in Wake of Hurricane Harvey

The biggest rainmaker in the history of the continental United States prompted the Texas Division of Workers’ Compensation to issue a bulletin requiring that insurers be flexible in handling workers’ claims. Insurers must extend deadlines for medical examinations, authorize payment for pharmacies to dispense 90-day supplies of medications and expedite change-of-address processing, DWC said in Bulletin No. B-0020-17, signed by Commissioner of Workers’ Compensation Ryan Brannan.
