Federal prosecutors and the attorney representing former state Sen. Ronald Calderon are asking the U.S. District Court for Central California to delay the start of Calderon's corruption trial until May.
A joint stipulation filed Monday with the court says Calderon's attorney, Mark Geragos of Los Angeles firm Geragos & Geragos, is working on five other cases that are scheduled to go to trial before March 1, when Calderon's trial is scheduled to begin.
