DWC Launches Training Online Training for QMEs

Thursday, November 16, 2017 | 0

The California Division of Workers’ Compensation on Wednesday launched its second free online course covering the qualified medical evaluator process.

The latest online training program covers how to prepare for evaluations and write a medical-legal report. The division also covers how QMEs should bill under the medical-legal fee schedule, including an in-depth review of the division’s interpretation of regulations governing complexity factors it is “rigorously enforcing” when reviewing applications for recertification.

The division said the free training session, which is available to everyone, is approved for one hour of QME continuing education credit and American Medical Association PRA Category 1 credit.

The DWC previously launched an online course to teach physicians how to use the Medical Treatment Utilization Schedule.

Online training programs are available here.
