Up to 4 Delegates of Pharmacist Can Request PMP Reports, Rule Change Says

New Mexico has specified who and how many people can access a patient's information on the state's prescription monitoring program (PMP) database.  Under an amendment to 16.19.29 NMAC, Sec. 2, 7, 9, and 12, pharmacists can delegate up to four people to request PMP reports. The pharmacist must tell the PMP within 10 days if they stop using a delegate.  The amendment establishes that licensed health care professionals from Medicare, workers' compensation carriers and pharmacy benefit managers can access the PMP.  The amendment goes into effect Nov. 27.
