The Florida House and Senate have approved legislation sought by insurance regulators that will allow creation of a new database designed to crack down on construction subcontractors that skirt workers' compensation laws by laundering their payrolls through check-cashing houses.The House voted 114-0 on April 24 and the Senate voted 39-0 on Tuesday to approve House Bill 217, which will require check-cashing houses to collect workers' compensation policy numbers and other information from businesses cashing checks for $1,000 or more.The data will be collected by the Florida Office of Fin...
