An Arizona appellate court last week ruled that a hotel employee was entitled to benefits for her injuries from a workplace fall, even though she couldn't identify a cause for the accident, and the independent medical evaluator concluded that the injuries were idiopathic.
Falls due to an idiopathic cause generally are not compensable in Arizona unless some aspect of the worker's employment places him in a position that increases the dangerous effects of the fall, the court explained.
