Louisiana Hangs On to Top Spot for Work Comp Opioid Prescribing

In a study that measured the amount of opioids prescribed to injured workers, Louisiana ranked the highest among 26 states, with average use of the drug per claim falling only about 6% compared to a previous period. And Louisiana stood out even more in the study from the Workers Compensation Research Institute because the state that ranked second highest in the earlier period, New York, reduced its opioid prescribing by 35%.
