The Alaska Division of Workers' Compensation, rather than the Workers' Compensation Board, would be allowed to assess penalties against uninsured employers that fail to abide stop-work orders and businesses that misclassify workers as independent contractors under a bill introduced in the state House of Representatives.
Rep. Gabrielle LeDoux, R-Anchorage, on Wednesday introduced House Bill 307, which would also change how penalties for misclassifying workers are calculated.
