Woman Accused of Cashing Deceased Husband's Checks

Detectives with the California Department of Insurance arrested a woman for allegedly cashing more than $500,000 in checks from her deceased husband’s workers’ compensation settlement.The Insurance Department said Rosa Maria Barajas, 68, was arrested on Thursday and charged with two felony counts of insurance fraud. The department says the Huntington Park woman has been receiving monthly payments of about $18,000 since her husband died in May 2010.Her husband, Jesus Barajas, was injured in 1997 when he fell from a scaffold while working for Aramark Uniform Services.
