An injured worker was not required to go through the utilization review and independent medical review process in order to obtain the reinstatement of nurse case manager services after her employer unilaterally cut them off, according to the California Workers' Compensation Appeals Board.
The Department of Industrial Relations flagged the board's unanimous panel decision in Patterson v. The Oaks Farm, No. ADJ3905924, as "significant" when it posted the decision late Thursday.
