A man convicted for his involvement in a construction industry payroll fraud scheme that evaded millions of dollars in workers’ compensation premiums was sentenced to 18 months in prison, federal prosecutors announced.
Dennis A. Barahona, 38, was also ordered to pay $1.1 million in restitution to the IRS and $41,352 in restitution to an unnamed insurance company.
Prosecutors also said the court ordered Barahona to forfeit $230,764 that was seized from two bank accounts, and entered a money judgment requiring him to pay an additional $263,302.
