The Oregon state House of Representatives on Wednesday unanimously passed a bill that would give some 650 firefighters in Portland the same workers' compensation presumption that other firefighters in the state have enjoyed since the 1960s.
The House voted 58-0 to pass House Bill 4062, by Rep. Janeen Sollman, D-Hillsboro, which would give firefighters in the state’s most populous city the presumption that lung diseases, hypertension and cardiovascular-renal disease are compensable occupational illnesses for those with at least five years of service.
