New Mexico lawmakers want to create a study group to explore whether and to what extent the state can control rates charged by air ambulance operators.
The average air ambulance trip is 52 miles and costs between $12,000 and $25,000 nationally, but a trip of the same distance costs between $20,000 and $40,000 in the Land of Enchantment, according to a fiscal impact report for House Memorial 78, by Rep. Debbie A. Rodella, D-Espanola.
