Senate leadership killed a proposal that would have augmented workers’ compensation benefits in an effort to remediate gender-based earning disparities by not allowing a vote on the measure, according to the California Applicants’ Attorneys Association.
Senate Bill 1458, by Sen. Monique Limon, D-Santa Barbara, would have required increasing the indemnity benefits owed to an injured worker when the worker identifies as a gender who earns less than the opposite gender.
