Data published online by the California Workers’ Compensation Institute shows that more claims for COVID-19 were filed in December than in any other month of 2020.
CWCI reports 23,483 claims were filed in the last month of 2020, a 55% increase over the previous high of 15,093 claims that were filed in July. CWCI is projecting a total claim count of more than 37,000 for December, which would be more than double the 16,872 claims projected for November or the 15,537 claims projected for July.
