A bill approved by the New York Legislature that would allow physical therapist assistants to treat injured workers has been sent to Gov. Andrew Cuomo for a signature.
Under Assembly Bill 2859, a physician would be able to decide that physical therapy for an injured worker may be provided by a certified physical therapist assistant, as long as the assistant is working under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist.
Physical therapists would be required to co-sign the physical therapist assistant’s treatment notes.
