More than 6,000 medical providers have been added to the list of those authorized to treat injured workers, thanks to the 2019 New York state budget bill that took effect Jan. 1, Workers' Compensation Board Chairwoman Clarissa Rodriguez said this week.
The budget bill, signed by Gov. Andrew Cuomo last summer, authorized six new types of providers to be reimbursed for treating injured workers, including acupuncturists, licensed clinical social workers, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, physical therapists and occupational therapists.
