Worker Can't Get Pension, Health or Welfare Benefits Added to AWW Calculation

An Ohio appellate court ruled that a worker was not entitled to an increase of his average weekly wage by including the value of his pension, health and welfare benefits in the calculation of his income. Richard K. Matheny worked for Contemporary Electric Inc. He suffered injuries at work in June 2014, which the Bureau of Workers' Compensation accepted as compensable. The BWC calculated Matheny’s average weekly wage at $999.80, based upon an hourly rate of $36.78 per hour.
