An amateur hockey goalie who claimed he was too injured to work was sentenced to 100 hours of community service and ordered to pay $12,110.88 in restitution for workers’ compensation fraud.
Samuel Spina, 45, of Rome, previously had pleaded guilty to insurance fraud in the fifth degree.
Spina also resigned his position as an aide with the New York State Office of Children and Family Services at its Taberg Residential Center for Girls in Oneida County.
