Rules Change to End Use of Classification Relativities

In keeping with a state law passed last year, the Texas Department of Insurance plans to drop all mention of classification relativities, the agency announced this week. Senate Bill 1336, signed into law last summer, eliminated the department's statutory requirement to develop workers' comp relativities. Texas was one of the few states that continued to develop the relativities, and most insurers did not utilize them, relying instead on National Council on Compensation Insurance recommendations.
