Workers’ comp carriers that offer coverage in California aren’t doing enough to help law enforcement investigate and prosecute alleged fraudsters, said a group of district attorneys and several members of a state anti-fraud commission.
One DA from Southern California said insurers almost never comply with anti-fraud investigations unless the Department of Insurance directly compels them to cooperate, while a Fraud Assessment Commission member wondered whether the Department of Industrial Relations needs to play a bigger role in forcing carriers to work with prosecutors.
