The Oregon Workers’ Compensation Division proposed temporary regulations to allow the use of new COVID-19 procedure codes while it goes through the formal process of adopting the codes through permanent rules.
The American Medical Association created four new Current Procedural Terminology, or CPT, codes for COVID-19 tests. The new COVID-19 codes will be published in the 2021 CPT codebook.
The WCD said it plans to adopt temporary rules that would allow service providers to use the new codes through Sept. 20.
