A rule proposed by the Maryland Workers’ Compensation Commission would insert within the state's code book a policy already mandated by the legislature that establishes a one-year deadline for medical providers to submit bills for services.
The proposed amendment to the Code of Maryland Administrative Regulations 14.09.08 would require providers to submit a Form CMS-1500 within one year from the later of the time that:
The medical service or treatment was provided.
The claim for compensation was accepted by the employer or the employer’s insurer.
