Lawmakers OK Bill With Rebuttable Presumption

Illinois lawmakers passed a bill that would create a COVID-19 presumption that could be rebutted by showing the employer followed government recommendations or adopted other strategies to try to reduce the spread of the new coronavirus. The Senate on Thursday voted 50-4 to pass HB 2455, the same day the bill was amended to add the COVID-19 presumption. The House of Representatives on Friday voted 113-2 to concur with amendments made to the bill while it was in the Senate.
