Lawmakers Moving Quickly on Compromise PTSD Bill

A year after lawmakers failed to agree on a post-traumatic stress bill, the Wisconsin Legislature is now considering a bipartisan compromise that would make it easier for some — but not all — public safety officers to qualify for mental-only benefits. Two very similar bills before the Legislature address the issue, and supporters agree that neither is perfect. In fact, the bills leave out 18,000 emergency medical service workers, one of the largest segments of first responders in the state.
