Governor Signs Changes to HB 1 into Law

Steve Beshear has signed into law changes to the state's program to combat "pill mills" that now will mandate criminal background checks for anyone seeking a license to prescribe or dispense controlled substances, beef up reporting rules for the state's pharmacies and also relax requirements for prescriptions to some patients.Beshear signed House Bill 217, sponsored by House Speaker and former state Attorney General Greg Stumbo, in a ceremony on Tuesday.
