Qmedtrix Asks Appeals Court to Hold FairPay Settlement Illegal

Qmedtrix, a Portland, Ore., bill-review firm, has asked the Louisiana Court of Appeal, 3rd Circuit, to dismiss a district court's approval of a settlement involving repricing of workers' compensation outpatient medical bills by FairPay Solutions.Qmedtrix says the decision by 27th Judicial District Court, St. Landry Parish, amounts to approval of an "illegal price-fixing agreement in violation of the antitrust laws and public policy of Louisiana."The settlement also violates Louisiana public policy "by raising the cost of workers' compensation health care in the state," and allowing...
