The U.S. Attorney's Office is asking a federal court for permission to intervene in California State Compensation Insurance Fund's ongoing civil case against Michael D. Drobot, his son and about two dozen providers who the carrier alleges defrauded it through a widespread kickback scheme.
Federal prosecutors working out of Santa Ana on Jan. 20 filed a motion asking the U.S. District Court for Southern California to limit the scope of discovery in the civil fraud case "for the limited purpose of protecting the integrity of the ongoing grand jury investigation."
